And that’s not all, the Audi R8 was the official ride of Tony Stark in the entire Ironman series and also in other Marvel movies like Captain America Civil War.

This tie-up gave Audi a platform to promote the successors of the first generation R8s as well. In a nutshell, Audi sales skyrocketed after the Marvel agreement. The last Audi that was promoted in a Marvel movie was the Audi R8 V10 Coupe. The very character of Ironman is futuristic and is showcased as the pinnacle of modern technology and producers and directors also wanted a ride that suits this character and so the Audi R8 was chosen for it was and it is the pinnacle of modern-day automotive technology.

The 2018 Audi R8 model year of the Ironman’s ride is offered in 2 different trim levels namely V10 and V10 plus. Both the variants come fitted with a 5.2-liter FSI dual injection V10 engine which is coupled to a 7 speed S Tronic dual clutch transmission. In the base trim level, power is only sent to the rear wheels while the V10 Plus trim gets Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

As a result of this, the V10 trim makes a staggering 532 horses and delivers 398 lb-ft of torque while the V10 Plus trim makes a whopping 602 horses and delivers 413 lb-ft of torque. The RWD variant does a 0-60 MPH in about 3.7 seconds while the AWD variant does it in 3.2 seconds. The RWD has a top speed of 199 MPH while the AWD crosses the 200 MPH mark to score a top speed of 205 MPH. The Audi R8’s performance stats are probably the best in the business. Just like Ironman.

Some of the items on the feature list of the Audi R8 include 14 way power adjustable Nappa leather heated sport seats, three-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, high gloss anthracite inlays, sporty stainless steel pedals, monoposto cockpit design, 12 airbags, antilock brakes with electronic brake distribution system, electronic stability control with secondary collision brake assist and traction control, adaptive rear spoiler, black integrated twin-trapezoidal exhaust outlets, titanium black finish exterior accents, and the list goes on and on and on.

The Audi R8 is bred through the lens of motorsport and it is derived from the R8 GT3 LMS race car and shares over 50% of the parts with it. A billionaire’s car that the R8 is, it does come at a premium. The audi r8 msrp starts at $138700 while the V10 Plus variant is priced at $194400.  But that’s still low compared to its other German rivals like the Lamborghini Huracan and the Porsche 911 which are priced well over $200000.
