You must have first seen them in ‘Back to the Future’, and it was then that you fell in love with a good pair of trainers. The addiction went so out of control that now you own at least 50 pairs of them and your house is literally filled with pairs of shoes. Hey, we don’t blame you, the appeal of some awesome trainers was so attractive that you just couldn’t resist and gave in to the temptation to own just one more pair.
Now you are left wondering what you can do with so many pairs of trainers lying around. Well, we say if you’ve got it, you flaunt it! And seeing as you have the collection most would dream of, it only seems fair to flaunt them too, right?
Take immediate action
Before you flaunt your sneaker collection, you will have to take into account the entire horde that you have and decide which ones you are going to wear and which ones you would like to show off. Separate the ones you wear regularly and store them in the closet or a heavy duty plastic storage box. If you are looking for a way to flaunt your collection you can try some of the ideas mentioned below. You will understand how you can put it all on display the right way and help you choose the shelf or unit that you can either purchase or get custom-made.
Just like in the shop
This arrangement should make the onlookers feel as if they are actually visiting a luxury shop where each shelf is backlit and showcased to perfection.
Modular storage
Take inspiration from this awesome design by Sole Stacks. Flaunting your collection in this manner will definitely give it an aesthetic look. The design of these shelves is modular and carefully angled. So when you add to your collection, all you have to do is add more shelves and the beauty will be there for everyone to see.
Bringing order to chaos
Some experienced individuals suggest that if you bring order to your collection you will be able to pull it off in a more organised way. You can try different styles and bring it all together based on same colours or segregate them according to the sport the pair is appropriate for. You can experiment with high tops and low tops but remember to leave enough space between it all so that it doesn’t look too cluttered.
Storing
Now comes the important part. Surely you have bought a lot of trainers, but they will last for a long time only if you maintain and store them properly. If you store your beloved trainers carelessly and exposed, the rubber part will slowly fade to a dull yellow. Make sure to keep your collection away from UV rays which can result in cracks in the material and ultimately lead to their wear and tear. Wherever you store, make sure the environment is low in humidity.
If you are looking for cheap alternatives for storing, keep them in the box they came packed in (if you have not thrown it in the trash that is). Get rid of the paper in which they were wrapped or stuffed with as it is a bit acidic in nature. If you want to protect them with paper anyway, make sure the paper is acid free.
Zip Locks
You can put your trainers in zip lock bags and keep them from getting exposed to the air more than necessary. You can also use a vacuum sealer and remove the air completely from the packaging. If you plan to use a hair dryer or a heat gun, make sure that the temperature is does not exceed the limit as it might damage your shoe.
Silica Gel Packs
You can also put silica gel packs in your shoe box or zip lock bags. Silica gel will absorb water vapours created by humidity. While you are at it, make sure that the storage conditions don’t get too dry; otherwise your trainers will start to crack. Do remove them after few months and make sure they don’t get stale in the storage unit.
We hope the above given tips help you flaunt and store your trainer collection in the best possible way.
